The Orphan Tea Company

Orphan Tea -- the cup that cheers. The picture was taken on December 22 at Lalbazar Street in Calcutta, while on an expediation to hunt down some quality Assam leaf. It turns out Darjeeling is there for the asking, but Assam is usually only offered in the lowest grades. We didn't make it to the Tea Board or whatever it is called (it is hard to find -- "locate" as well as "reach"-- anything in Calcutta) , but there were a lot of wholesalers around Lalbazar who had a variety of Darjeelings. The saving grace was that later at Oxford Book Store we found the Cha Bar, and they had some decent Orange Pekoes from Assam. "Pengari" is quite nice.
